Review
The penultimate issue of this series (I should probably say pun-ultimate) is here and it’s a game changer. I was glad that they have Spider-Ham more than a one-shot and hopefully, this series does well enough that Marvel will give him another mini or even on ongoing that’ll reboot every 25 issues or so. Whatever all I know is that author Zeb Wells had me hooked from the very first issue and that still hasn’t changed. We get a really fun, funny story that gives depth to the funny animal Earth of the Marvel Multiverse, and also tells an interesting story at the same time. Please note that I said interesting, not serious. Wells actually pulls off a genuine shocking surprise this issue. It’s one of those rare endings that you never saw coming in a million years but also makes perfect sense. Zeb Wells really has a talent for making fun of the comics industry and the level of seriousness it takes itself with. I would love to see him take on a What The?!?! reboot, I think it would really be fun to read. Until then, I’m really glad that we have him on this book.
Artist Will Robson gives another stand-out performance this issue, while he doesn’t get to show off his artistic range quite as much as past issues, he still runs the gauntlet this time. Sticking mostly to animals, he’s still very skilled and detailed when he needs to be and at the drop of a hat can go into an out and out cartoony style, yet keeps it serious, if that makes any sense. I’m looking forward to seeing what he has in store for the next issue, it should be a real treat.
Final Thoughts
FUN!!!! That's what this whole mini-series has been so far, and that's what this issue is. If you just want a good time, this week you need to pick this book up.
