Plastic Man No More! #3
Recap
Eel O’Brian might be a superhero now — but before he was anything else, he was a crook. Until the accident that turned him into the pliable Plastic Man, Eel was bad to the bone… and just because he no longer has bones doesn’t mean that’s not still true.

Plastic Man and Woozy suffer a bit of a… setback… when trying to capture one of the Metal Men. Well, setback is putting it mildly, and now there’s really no turning back toward the superheroes they once called allies.
As his body grows increasingly more unstable, Plastic Man must turn to a villainous ally in hopes of constructing the weapon that could cure him — no matter how slim the odds of success…
Review
Plastic Man No More! #3 picks up with the fallout of last issue as Plas debriefs the Justice League about his success of rescuing Uranium, although it was at the expense of the reat of the Metal Men. The scenes with the Justice League continue to be powerful as the dichotomy between the fun 70s cartoonish style and the dark overtones of the rest of the League’s nonchalantness to what Plas is telling, especially Bats and Supes more interested in what to do for dinner, continues.
It’s interesting that Detective Chimp continues to be the only one who cares, which after he starts investing what happened to the Metal Men, which seems to not turn out well for him in the issue. It’s no surprise and well written when Eel tells the he is quitting, even trying to add some humor in, as he says he had a crappy parking spot anyway and they never respected him.
Things continue to get darker as Plas turns to the villain No-Face for help and reconnects with his son, only to turn on him so he can be in the nuclear explosion that they hope will restabile the two of them.
The issue hits on an emotional level both in the writing and artistically. The most interesting subplot, Eel’s disembodied hand, continues to be interesting and a thread that hopefully will be expanded upon soon.
Final Thoughts
Plastic Man No More! #3 continues to send Eel down a dark path in his attempts to save his son and himself as the body count of his friends continues to rise. The deconstruction and meltdown of Plastic Man.
