Review

Radiant Black #25 is an exciting issue that builds up tension for the incoming war while balancing being new reader friendly and a fun experience. Interested readers have a perfect time to jump in on this series!

Radiant Black is one of those series I have come back to time and time again, and with the incoming Catalyst War, I felt it was a good time to give this series a proper following to see how this epic event will play out.

Issue #25 did not disappoint in creating an energy and excitement as the Radiant powered heroes maneuver internal and external conflicts while gearing up for war.

Radiants are cosmic suits that give users a host of super powers—similar to Power Rangers—and this group of heroes from all over now have to work together while learning why they have their suits and dealing with the aftermath.

The series kicked off with Nathan and Marshall discovering the “Radiant” and has exploded into a host of other characters banding together to face extraterrestrial enemies. A challenge Nathan and Marshall face at the moment is who gets to use the Radiant suit and who has to move on.

Knowing this, it’s easy to jump into issue #25 and get an idea what’s going on thanks to the writing.

Written by Kyle Higgins & Joe Clark, the script and pacing make for a solid entry into the series even if readers aren’t completely aware of what’s going on. This is very much appreciated as series that are 25 issues in are not always accessible.

In addition to the solid writing, this issue benefits from a strong artistic team handling the designs and panels. Marcelo Costa, Eduardo Ferigato, Paulo Daniel Santos, Rod Fernandes, and Raul Angulo all work well together for a visual experience. Radiants feel cosmic and the colors create dynamic and epic scenes. Additionally, the multiple characters and Radiants having their own inflection means the lettering done by Becca Carey gets to stand out as well.

Final Thoughts

If you haven’t jumped into the series yet but want to see what the buzz is all about, don’t miss out on this issue. It’s a new arc, exciting, and highlights how the world of Radiants is one of the best worlds being built.
