Review
At face value I love this issue, it feels like classic Jason circa 2009 or so and the crime boss angle has been pretty underused even within this run. My one issue is pretty much every issue since Jason struck out on his own has felt like random scripts that don’t necessarily connect until 2n1 levels of convenient plot devices push them together. Characters leave and appear with no setup, The bad guy is…. beaten? Maybe? I honestly don’t know. Was that “we did it Roy!” scene intended to say we’re done with Underlife and going back to Gotham for good? The flow is nonexistent. At one point Jason says bunker is “Loyal as the day is long” they just met for the second time last issue why is Bunker loyal? Why are the Su sisters here? So many questions!
That said, this issue was a complete and total blast, pretty much every time Jason butts heads with Batman it’s fun and he straight up outflanked him this time around and it was so good!
The art by Stephen Segovia is as good as always with the panel of Batman swinging away being a real standout.
Final Thoughts
Really fun issue but can we get some definitive direction in this series please?
