Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider #4: Frank is Back

Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider has been a blast of a series. The first word in the title accurately sums it up: revenge. The first three issues were Cosmic Ghost Rider, Frank Castle, shooting and destroying his way across the galaxy. Honestly, this title could exist without any dialogue; the visuals are that fun. However, the story is pretty good. Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum does an incredible job of keeping a strong and simple plot within the glorious cosmic action: Frank Castle wants revenge on the Cosmic King. As the Cosmic Ghost Rider, Castle is unstoppable.

In issue #4, we find that while Cosmic Ghost Rider can’t be stopped, Frank Castle can. Issue #3 left Frank taking his soul back from the Cosmic King, just after Cammi is thrown through a work hole. This issue follows what happened to Cammi. This is something that Hopeless does that makes the series a little more enjoyable than just the amazing action. Cammi grounds the reader to humanity, which I think is really necessary considering Castle is killing his way across the cosmos for his soul. With all of the different planets and lifeforms, Cammi is the only piece of humanity in sight. Cammi is the link between the insanity of Cosmic Ghost Rider and strangeness of the galaxy. The reader can see themselves in her. So when Cammi’s soul is taken, readers are left with Castle and his struggle for humanity. Will he trade his soul again for hers?
