Review

Revenge Of The Cosmic Ghost Rider #5 concludes a wild ride. The miniseries was a roller coaster engulfed in cosmic hellfire from start to finish and with an emphasis on the finish. I was not sure how issue #5 would go. It seemed like each issue was a climax to the series, so I thought this issue would certainly be it. In a way it was. Cosmic Ghost Rider’s work will never be done, so it makes sense that this issue did not quite feel like the end. The idea of revenge may lead a reader to think that there will be an ending once revenge is taken. We are talking about Frank Castle, though, and now he has hellfire pulsing through his veins. Because his work is never done, I see this miniseries as Cammi’s. Cammi added a human element to the series, which added vulnerability to Castle.

The moment you think Castle showed his human side and did the right thing, the moment is obliterated and undoing the sacrifice he just made. Castle, or Cosmic Ghost Rider, is exactly where he was at the start of this run. That seems to be the whole point. The Cosmic Ghost Rider is not meant to change or have significant growth. Revenge Of The Cosmic Ghost Rider included Cammi to draw out Frank’s human side. To be honest, I thought this was going to be a happy ending. I really liked the dynamic between Cammi and Frank, so I really was surprised when Cammi’s body is completely mangled and taken over by the same parasite that controlled the Cosmic King. I am hoping Cammi can be saved, because I enjoyed her character and her dynamic with Castle. After all, if it wasn’t for her, Cosmic Ghost Rider would have been seeking revenge elsewhere.

Final Thoughts

Revenge Of The Cosmic Ghost Rider #5 concludes a miniseries that is so action-packed that it will leave the reader’s ears ringing. Though issue #5 finishes the miniseries, it still packs the same exciting punch as the previous issues and leaves the reader right where they started, but in a good way.
