Recap

The new season of solar flare has begun is previous seasons have with an origin issue, this time for Navy veteran and resident badass Frank. We are shown a pre-flare day in the life including talking a senile army buddy down in a nursing home (awesome scene) and visiting his wife's grave. An interesting interaction is a meal shared with the series' protagonist Jake, who is Frank's financial planner.

Review

Man, it’s good to have Solar Flare back this series is a ton of fun. As in previous seasons, this retrospective look at a character’s backstory provides a bit of insight and does a great job of fleshing out various characters, first season being Jake and season 2 being Brent. I think this one was my favorite so far as Frank is a really interesting character who so far has been a bit of an enigma.

Series artist Branko Javanovic seems to be getting better and better, the art this issue is fantastic and really detailed. Likewise, the colors by Carlos Cara Alvarez have been consistently fantastic, with a beautiful sunset in the first few pages and the end showcasing an awesome trademark Solar Flare splash page.

Final Thoughts

Great issue I'm glad Solar Flare it's a solid series, can't wait for next issue season 2 ended on a huge cliffhanger!
