Recap

Though Johnny Blaze (A.K.A Ghost Rider) is the current ruler of hell. The role has long been coveted by many others though, and none more than Lillith- Mother of Demons.

Review

So Johnny Blaze, with the help of Doctor Strange, has trapped Mephisto in the mortal world and now sits upon the throne of hell. You’d think gaining control of Hell would be the hard part but you’d be wrong.

The comic has a very compelling start, the landscape of hell set out before us, as we hear the story of Lillith and her fall from grace. Its made clear pretty early in that even though Mephisto is gone that is far from the end of Johnny’s troubles. Writer Ed Brinson brings out the big guns as he weaves a tale that will unfold over the next few issues. The direction is interesting, I cant wait to see how Ghost Rider changes as he tries to keep hold of Hell and the artwork is first-rate. Hell comes to life with a variety as Johnny Blaze conquers his realm and flattens his foes. For any fan of Ghost Rider, this is a must-have issue and the begging of something much bigger to come.

We see a real struggle within our long-established hero and the character feels different somehow than the one we’ve come to know!

Final Thoughts

Spirit of Ghost Rider #1 is a thrill ride of intrigue and action that should not be missed!
