Recap

Review

For those of you disappointed that Star Trek: The Next Generation never did an episode set in the “Mirror Universe”, you can rest easy. Not only is this series set in the Mirror Universe, it manages to bring in characters from the adjacent Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series. It’s truly a crossover of epic scope. This issue in particular spotlights just how ruthless this Captain Picard is, how he leads his crew by both fear and threats and what exactly he’s really up to. Authors Scott Tipton and David Tipton dig in and do some excellent character stuff here, and after reading this issue, I got the feeling that I really knew the crew of this universe, almost as well as I knew the crew of the universe that I’ve watched for decades. Some mirror versions of supporting characters are thrown in for fun surprises, but the real meat is with the main characters that run the Enterprise, There are some plotlines left dangling from the last issue that seems to be forgotten, hopefully, they get picked up on in a future issue and there are also some characters that are touched upon here that need some more attention which again, will hopefully come in future issues, Storywise, this issue is very entertaining,

Artist Gavin Smith does a very good job on this issue exploring the look and feel of someplace that we’ve never been, but is familiar to us in a way. His execution on some of the technology that’s new to us is incredible and shocking when it’s used. He has the look and feel of the characters down pat and his panel placement is really great, making this a step-up from you’re normal comic. He draws this in the scope that is should be, as it’s a crossover of epic purview.

Final Thoughts

A very well-done issue. Lots of story twists and turns in this issue, with lots of new developments. This one is one you don't want to miss and is definitely worth your time and money. Beam this into your pile on Wednesday.
