Recap

Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker are maroon on Hubin, Luke finds himself an adventure fighting off a pack of Thanrax. While Luke is off on his adventure with Markona, Nearby Solo and Leia share a meal (I am sure Han would call it a date, Leia is just hungry).

While the two share a meal they are soon interrupted by the charging Thanrax running through the middle of town. Not long before they realize that Luke is involved. Markona daughter Tula finds Luke's lightsaber. She says that it reminds her of her grandmother's. Luke was puzzled and was going to ask if her grandmother was a Jedi, but before he could ask the question, she changes the subject.

Markona is impressed by young Luke, stating he would find much to do if he were to stay in Hubin. Luke appreciates the kind jester but states his people need him. Markona takes Luke to spar later. Markona appears to like danger as he is reminded that it is dangerous to spar with a live lightsaber. He reminds Luke it would be pointless to spar with anything else.

Luke walks into a room with See-Threepio and Artoo, as Emkay-One joins the room asking what they are working on. The three have been trying to work on a way to contact the rebellion, however unsuccessfully. Emkay-One states he can help as See-Threepio eagerly agrees.

As the week passes, Luke, Han, and Leia watch the sunset. Han reminds Luke that he has a date with Tula. The conversation steers back to her grandmother, and if she was a Jedi. Tula tells Luke that she knows Emkay-One is helping make a transmitter which appears to upset her. Later in the night Luke Han and Leia are discussing what to do. The conversation becomes heated as Luke takes off. He goes to the room where they had been working. Luke tells Artoo to start the transmitter they cannot waste any more time.

On the other side of the mansion, Leia shows Han what she has been working on the past week while in seclusion. She found a way to destroy the Shu-Torun forever.

Review

There is more then meets the eye. Tula is upset that Luke is trying to leave, her father has also taken a liking to Luke.  For me personally, I am not a fan of how they hunt/kill Thanrax.  I feel Tula did not give a complete answer about if her grandmother was a Jedi or the man she fell in love with was. It just seems fishy to me.  Also, it seemed a bit weird to me that Leia is off planning this massive plan but not letting anyone else on her team know. In the meantime, Luke just wants to go home.

Overall this issue was uneventful, there was a lot of subtle takeaways but focused on setting up for the story.

Final Thoughts

The story and writing is fine. I do like Kieron's writing. I do feel this particular storyline is a bit slow from what I would expect from a Star Wars book. However, I am new to Star Wars this is ONLY my third book ever.

The art is AWESOME. The coloring is OUTSTANDING.  The colors are so bright and beautiful. The art is smooth and blends nicely. This is a weird thing to say but I really like the panel layouts. There is a lot of art per page which is awesome.  Art and color together are a solid 10.
