Review
As always, we get TWO really great stories in this issue of Star Wars Adventures. The main story is a Poe and Finn story by author Michael Moreci, while the second is a story about original character Emil Graf, who’s a great “in-between the scenes” character that’s been with us for the majority of the series. Moreci’s story about Finn and Poe is a great one, almost straight out of the movies. It’s got humor, action, everything you want. What I personally love about these stories is that they’re straight-up adventures and not so much about the relationships as the films. In the film, it seems like you’re always guessing who someone “really” is or what they’re real motive or endgame is, but with these comics, you can pretty much take people at face value. Good is good. Evil is evil. And this issue is packed with good vs. evil stories. The Poe/Finn story is more on the humorous side, but that totally fits in line with their characters. The story of Emil Graf is an intense, almost scary one that spans pretty much the whole Skywalker sage. It’s got some great callbacks to some of the most famous scenes in Star Wars history, yet it moves this character and story forward until it comes to a satisfying ending. As I’ve said in the past, I really recommend this book. Sometimes Star Wars comics can get really weighted down in their own continuity, but you won’t find that here. If you’re an intense fan that can recite call letters of different types of ships OR you just saw the movies and really like them, I guarantee that you’re gonna enjoy this issue.,
Did I mention the art? There’s art! Ariana Florean, Mario Del Pennino, and David M. Buisan all provide stellar art here. They do a great job bringing a traditional, 2D art style of a CGI cartoon look. Like the stories, the art gets a very high grade!
Final Thoughts
For you, for your kids, for anyone who likes to read, this book is worth both your time AND money!
