Recap

Review

I don’t you, but I don’t think I could ever get tired of Clones fighting droids. Case in point, this issue of Clone Wars Battle Tales. An action-packed story within a story, this issue is drawn by artists Derek Charm and Valentino Pinto. Charm handles the story that’s been going on for three issues, that focuses on Clone Troopers, but it also features the Jedi and Count Dooku heavily. Again this issue, he does a great job on the art, everything looks like the Clone Wars cartoon, just in two dimensions. He also does a lot with what he has, which isn’t that much. I think he’s maybe got four or five pages each issue to get his story across and move it forward and he does both of things excellently. The way the “flashback” story blends into the other story is fantastic, we get there naturally, it’s not forced by clunky lines like “Hey, remember that time….?” It just falls into place where it belongs and where it’s logical. Artist of the flashback story this issue is Valentina Pinto. I’ll admit right away, she’s really not my cup of tea, but she doesn’t really do anything wrong, she’s got a great sense of story and flow an how to carry a comic book with her art. This style might not be right for her, I’d love to see her draw in her own style.

Michael Moreci writes another really fun issue. Listen, if you’re not picking this up because the word “Adventures” is in the title, grow up. Open yourself to different kinds of stories. You are going to be SHOCKED at how mature this story is. Yeah, it’s a story that can be read by a younger person, but that doesn’t mean it’s simple. A very compelling, complex issue.

Final Thoughts

Another great issue in this series. Recommended for everyone that can read words.
