Review

The thing that I like most about this book is that it’s a lot like a Star Wars movie or TV show. You can read it and enjoy the main story ad go on with your day, or you can obsess about everything and make up your own backstory about every character that you see in the book. That’s the level of story that author Ethan Sacks puts into each issue, this one being no exception. This series (and this issue in particular) has a pretty big cast with a lot of characters that look similar, and I have to say I wish the creative team did this a little differently because there were a few times that I got confused as to who was who. But Valance continues his “Die Hard” like adventure on another ship, and all in all, this issue is really a good time. You can tell Sacks is moving towards a resolution for this arc, and maybe a change of focus on the main character, time will tell. I think, more than anything, I like this issue because it’s 110% Star Wars. Nothing looks or seems out of place, and all the characters act as if they’re truly from that galaxy far, far away.

Artist Paolo Villanelli lays out some more beautiful pages for this issue. Of note, in particular, is the different locations that are largely separated by color, so a special shout-out to colorist Arif Prianto for making everything look vibrant, yet muted. The action in this issue is fast and intense, but it’s never hard to follow. Villanelli is a really fantastic storyteller, and it shows in this series,

Final Thoughts

Another great issue in this criminally underrated series. If you're looking for something different from the Star Wars norm, pick this issue up, it'll hook you!
