Star Wars Bounty Hunters #15: Bounty Call

This search for the currently frozen Han Solo is really starting to heat up! Actually, it’s already hot, but now it’s going to a whole ‘nother level of heat. Writer Ethan Sacks is quickly proving just how talented he is in this book. He’s plucked a barely-remembered Star Wars character created by Marvel back in the ’70s and kicked him up a few notches and essentially made him a major player in the Star Wars universe, the main character of this comic, and a pretty big part of the War of the Bounty Hunters storyline. Not too shabby. This issue focuses on Valance and Dengar who’ve teamed up to try and get to Boba Fett before anybody else can. They encounter a few rival teams along the way and add another member to their group, somebody who I think will surprise a lot of people. Another solid chapter in this very entertaining series. 

Paolo Villanelli has been the artist on this series for a while now, and he’s only getting better. I’m constantly surprised by how consistently awesome he is. Page after page Villanelli adds more and more detail to his work, and they really mirror the energy of the Star Wars universe and its extremely “lived-in” look. His ability to tell a story is unmatched and there are a lot of great things to see in this issue. In the Star Wars universe, there are SO many things that could be distracting on a page, but Villanelli knows how to draw your eye to what’s really important on the page.
