Review

Okay, there is a LOT to talk about. Author Ethan Sacks packs so much into this issue, it’ll make your head spin. There are some pretty shocking events in this comic and there were times that I had to stop and remind myself “You’re reading Star Wars BOUNTY HUNTERS”, this isn’t Ewoks. So, this is kind of the Star Wars version of the Secret Society of Super-Villains or The Legion of Doom. These are unpleasant characters doing unsavory things. But, Sacks gives us a bit of a surprise in that a “McGuffin” for the series is introduced and now these guys have a purpose to be a cohesive unit, but I have a feeling this might be a rotating cast of characters. And what would a Star Wars book be without an awesome cameo of something from one of the films or TV shows? Sacks really impress me by his ability to create characters that are original to the comic but fit seamlessly into the Star Wars universe and the story is something that could be adapted into a TV show that would be right up there in line with The Mandalorian. A great issue and Sacks continues to push this series towards greatness.

But, he can’t do it alone. Artist Paolo Villanelli does some of the heavy liftings on the issue, making the art in this book gorgeous and consistent. People are often critical of Star Wars artists because of the tech being wrong, or what have you, but I dare anyone to take a critical eye to this book, just know you’re going to come up empty. This issue features a flash-back and for the first time that I can recall, it’s told through framing instead of borders or the use of coloring or other effects. Overall, the artwork in this book is simply stunning.

Final Thoughts

A great issue featuring both story and art that is fantastic, as well as uniquely Star Wars. Buy it!!
