Review
Star Wars: Ewoks #2 is the second part in the four part series that takes place following The Battle Of Endor. The issue does a good job of setting the stage of introducing The Red Ghost (Chief Chirpa’s daughter), showing the Imperial/Bounty Hunters attempt to deceive the Ewoks, and setting up the next issue, which sees Wicket an unwilling hostage.
General Koyatta continues to also get some interesting character development as one minute he seems incompetent and the next it seems he is not. Koll, who is the tracker of the Imperials also continues to be an interesting character, who takes a stand against Koyatta saying that he will not be part of an Ewok massacre. The only member of the Imperial group that has yet to see much character development is Khu Fornot, who seems only wanting revenge on the Ewoks for their part in killing his fellow Stormtroopers. For-Ellrom and Zuckuss have some moments, but are less bounty hunter-like than in the previous issues, which is interesting especially seeing For-Ellrom tap in to his protocol droid side rather than the assassin programing.
One thing in the issue that seems to be strange is that Wicket not only understands and can communicate in basic speech. Hopefully this will be explained or expanded on before the end of the series.
The art and color work continue to work well especially the facial expressions on the Ewoks especially as they converse amongst themselves and try to communicate with the Imperial party.
Final Thoughts
Star Wars: Ewoks #2 continues the Endor adventure as the Ewoks must deal with the Imperial and Bounty Hunters sent to retrieve that Empire's cache of weapons hidden on the moon. The issue moves the story along, and not wasting the limited storytelling space of the four issue series.
