Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents #1 Four Clones Walk Into A Cantina

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents #1 is the latest installment of the canonical Dark Horse series telling stories set throughout the Star Wars history. This time the Bad Batch, the elite Clone trooper squad who are tasked by Mace Windu to retrieve a stolen list of Ghost Agents the Republic has embedded with the Separatists.

What makes this issue and story premise fun and different is that it takes the Bad Batch out of their comfort zone and faced with an mission they can’t, at least for now, shoot and blow their way out of initially. The first part of the story is heavy on the dialogue and exposition but is necessary to set the scene for the story to come.

The mission takes the team to the lower levels of Coruscant, an underused location that is full of storytelling that should be explored in the future. Moreci does a good job of capturing the characters and speech rhythms of Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Crosshair as seen in the animated series.

The story is further complemented by the art and color work by Hannigan and Atiyeh who are able to capture not only the Batch but the various aliens found in the cantina on the lower levels of Coruscant but capture the feel of of the animated series while making it something unique to the story.
