Review
Star Wars: Inquisitors #3 finds Lord Vader upset that now two of his Inquisitors have failed to kill Tensu Run.
For this issue the task of hunting Tensu is the Seventh & Ninth Sisters. Of the two, the Seventh Sister is the most well-known for appearances in Star Wars REBELS hunting Ahsoka, Kanan Jarus, and Ezra, the Rise Of The Red Blade novel, and the Darth Vader comics. The Ninth Sister, the lesser-known Inquisitor featured in the issue made appearances in the Darth Vader comic series and featured in Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor video games.
Barnes begins with the two undercover in a casino hunting for Tensu’s location before reporting to Vader. This opening scene is a slow start to the issue which is short on action and not as fast-paced as the first two issues, instead focusing more on building to the final issue next month.
The same also applies to the scenes focusing on Tensu who is hiding with other Jedi in the Outer Rim. The tactic that the Inquisitors use to draw Tensu out is one that has been used in other stories, but here it was a nice touch use the Seventh Sister’s ID9 seeker droids. Nothing stands out about the Ninth Sister’s involvement in the final confrontation like the playful banter between Tensu and the Seventh Sister.
The issue ends on an odd note as the Seventh Sister is injured while the Ninth Sister seems to be forgotten. It will be interesting to see how the story finishes up as Tensu implies that in order to end the chase he must confront Vader.
The art and colors work well, however, it is easy to mistake the Seventh Sister for the Fourth Sister from Tales Of The Empire and Obi-Wan.
Final Thoughts
Star Wars: Inquisitors #3 is more about laying the groundwork for next month's final issue then being an action-packed Force duel. It's nice to see some of the lesser known Inquisitors have some time in the spotlight.
Overall, the issue hits the marks that it needed to in anticipation of the final issue.
