Recap

“Orry! Do you read me?!” is echoed over dispatch. Last issue we were left off with Orry screaming for help. Captain Theban yells once more asking for status. The new guy aboard the ship asks if something like this has happened before. The Captain admits they never been aboard an alien ship before. He reminds Caleb and Kyra of the mission and their goal is to get the power cell.

As Kyra, The Captain and Caleb find the power cell, other members of the crew begin to find the remains of Orry. The sight is unbearable; her insides appear to be ripped out. An empty gap of what would have been her stomach is now a hollow rib cage.

The Crew soon realizes that they are not alone aboard the alien ship. Once they have retrieved the power cell, their new mission is to get back to their own ship as soon as possible. As they gather arguments about what should happen next. Should they look for their missing crewmembers? Should they take their losses and run? Caleb appears to come up with the winning solution; Head back to their ship the Magpie and arm up. The crew appears content on the plan.

As the crew walks back to their ship, they begin to wonder what happened to the rest of the crew? Could it be that a Protoss is alive? As the discussion fuels on, a sudden noise "skr skr skr" is heard by the remainder of the crew. From behind the line, a scream for help echo’s throughout the alien ship. Another member of the crew was taken. Captain gives the order to run. As they sprint back to their ship, they find their door locked and unable to open it. It appears they are trapped and will soon face their doom. Luckily for the frightened crew, the captain was able to override the lock which allows them to board the Magpie. The crew follow their plans and arm up to search for survivors. The crew overhears more unidentified noise as they reach the door back to the alien ship. Although the door was jammed, Caleb was able to find a way to open the door. As the door opens the Captain gives the order to shoot anything that moves. As they reach the opening, a flash grenade was tossed at the crew. Boots are heard stomping towards the crew. “This is Captain Barlow of the Terran Dominion! Drop you Weapons! You are all under Arrest”... To Be Continued

Review

When I first started reading it,  I was a little disappointed.  It read like a typical horror movie. It seemed very typical. As I read page by page I felt like I knew what was going to happen next. The very last page, I was shocked. It was not who I was expecting. I had made up my mind of what was going to happen, then bam, plot twist. Which made me love this story so much more. The Writer Jody was purposely making you think “oh I know what is going to happen.” She set it up perfectly. The guys at the end were not who you were made to think was going to be there.  I don’t believe the Terran Dominion are the people who are taking their crew.  It adds another element, are they going to fight each other? Are they going to team up against who is killing the crew? So many questions. Strong cliffhanger from issue 2.

Final Thoughts

Writing Score 8:  It would have been a 9, however, the crew had to go back to their ship to get weapons. I would think you would come armed if you are boarding an alien ship even if you think it's empty. Storyline Score: 9, with that plot, twist it should almost be a 10, but I feel this still could turn into oh I can guess what is happening next. Art and Color I gave a 10. The colors are just so amazing. The art is so consistent. I would buy this just based on the beautiful art and colors, to be honest. I'm excited for the next issue.
