Superman #9: Psychologically Tortured, Imprisoned in A Volcano.

I am not sure where the World Peace Day angle is going, a few issues back there was a house of Zod similar sequence. I assume it will be a tie storyline that will take Superman back to The Phantom Zone where Rogol Zaar is currently fighting General Zod.

Being age 11 maybe 12, stuck in another world, without his family for the first time, being imprisoned on a volcano, having incoherent conversations with a man who looks exactly like your father, and losing track of time; The psychology ramifications of this could be a huge story. I am not sure if Bendis will use it or not, but it does open a million doors for future storylines.

Jon does manage to escape, finds himself in a strange city only to be found by Superwoman. The next issue is teasing a fight to the death with his mother, or at least this world’s version of his Mother Lois Lane.

I really like how the story is developing. I don’t mind that the storyline is seemingly taking its time to get to point A to Point B. Truthfully this could be a whole series on its own, that I would completely put in my pull list. It does seem to take away from Superman a bit, but I think it will have a major pay off and will allow a ton of stories to come out for decades. I do believe in 10 years people will be talking or referencing the events of today.

I do wish they would stick with one artist, as I love ART and will buy books solely for Art, I do find it can be a bit inconsistent. The book is monthly; I am not sure why they have five people working on art. That is a small gripe over a really intriguing story.
