Review

Two issues in and this series is shaping up to be a great addition to the Tank Girl mythos. This issue dives straight into the action with Tank Girl, Booga, Jet Girl, Barney, Sub Girl, and Dobson trying to retrieve their new “Tankmaster” from a band of thieves.

It seems co-creatot Alan Martin is going to use this series to not only move Tank’s story forward but also to give us glimpses of the past and what shaped his characters into the spunky crew we all know and love.

Alan is assisted in this goal by the art of Brett Parson, a fan-favorite artist for the character. It’s easy to keep track with the main story being in full color with our, um… heroes(?) mostly in their typical brightly colored punk-apocalyptic garb contrasting the beiges and yellows of the desert scenery and flashbacks done in drab sepia-tones capturing the antiquity and emotion of an old photograph.

If that isn’t enough to grab your interest, there’s also beastly kangaroos, mutant yeti-like creatures, and a giant tank/rv.

This series is a great jumping on point for those wanting to get into Tank Girl comics as well as something that is sure to be loved by long term fans of the franchise, with the first two issues already providing a satisfying dose of action, emotion, and comedy.

Final Thoughts

If you've been looking to get into Tank Girl, this series is a great jumping on point while staying true to the character we know and love.
