Review

It feels like Saturday morning all over again with issue #107. All the elements are there– well except for the bowl of Apple Jacks that usually accompanied me when watching TMNT. Sophie Campbell continues to maintain her outstanding course of making sure that TMNT stays fresher than a basket of peaches at a farmer’s market. The inclusion of different new characters and not just bringing them into the Turtles’ lives but giving them their own personalities and room to grow. Case in point, Lita! I need more of her and can’t wait to see how she progresses.

Campbell and Pattison have a great knack for producing the right amount of action and mystery and crafting an unbelievable story with the familiar brand of turtles that we are so accustomed to, but inputting their own touches that you can’t help but fall in love with. Nelson Daniel continues to bring his phenomenal take on not only the turtles but their world as well. I love his ability to capture great facial expressions on the characters and give the same amount of detail to the environment. Combine that with Pattison’s astonishing work on inks and you have such an amazing example of why it’s a great time to be reading this book and be a turtles fan.

As I said earlier about this issue really took me back with that classic Saturday morning feel; the flow of this issue really sticks out with its moments of brilliance and I can’t say enough of how the creative team really captures the spirit of the entire turtle universe. Issue 107 has an excellently contrived plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the moment you open the book. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Final Thoughts

We are in a great era of the turtles’ story. I try not to sound like a broken record when talking about this creative team, but I just cannot help myself when it comes to the fabulous team of Campbell, Pattison, Lee, & Daniel and the phenomenal job they are doing. There has never been a better time to jump into the Turtle Van and go for a ride.
