Review

I haven’t had the chance to read the monthly Flash comic in a very long time, I’m sure you can relate, even though you love a character life gets in the way, their book gets pushed to the bottom of the pile and soon you’re looking at a stack as tall as you are wondering “when am I going to find the time to read all these?”. So this is my first issue back in a while, and I’ve gotta tell you, I was really impressed. I’ve heard a lot of people complain that things and characters have been changed to match up with The Flash TV show, but I didn’t find that to be the case. What I DID find was the Flash that I knew and loved. Author Jeremy Adams, turns in a great story that’s got all the classic Flash elements that you love: super heroics, science, but most of all, family. There’s a classic villain featured in this issue and a new villain who’s pulling his strings. Wally, just like Barry, uses a combination of science and speed to defeat the big bad and also teach Wallace a thing or two along the way. One thing I particularly enjoyed was Adam’s take on Wally. He’s so excited, so curious, so enthused about everything he’s doing that it ends up being something that you’re going to feel as well as observe.

The art team of Fernando Pasarin and Matt Ryan deserve a big, big round of applause for this issue. I’ve read a LOT of Flash comics in my life, and even though Central City has always been a very vital part of almost every story, it never had a distinctive look to it, like Metropolis or Gotham. But Pasarin and Ryan have finally given it that look that it’s always deserved, and it’s amazing. It gives me a “5 minutes into the future” vibe, which is just perfect for this book. Not to mentio they’re great at portraying the characters, powers, and emotions with precision and accuracy. I’m really sorry I strayed, Flash. After reading this, I’m never gonna let it happen again! I suggest you do the same.

Final Thoughts

A really well-done issue that you're going to enjoy. Loads of action and an interesting mystery is uncovered and it maintains that Flash spirit of enjoyment. Grab this one, folks!
