Recap

Are we still publishing this!? Despite our best efforts, certified scoundrels Aubrey Sitterson (No One Left to Fight, The Comic Book Story of Professional Wrestling) and Tony Gregori (Deuce of Hearts, Karma Police) continue to a) tell the raunchiest, most hilarious sci-fi detective story in this or any other galaxy, and b) disappoint and disgust their friends, family, religious leaders, and, frankly, all of us here at Dark Horse Comics.

Review

I didn’t know things could get raunchier, but Aubrey Sitterson and Tony Gregori’s The Worst Dudes #4 does just that. The team has put out a book that feels like a party. Readers will be mesmerized by the Butt Buffett, one of the many bonkers locations of the series. Lovern Kindzierski’s colors pop on every page, drawing the eye to every little detail of Gregori’s art, which is perfect because you aren’t going to want to miss a thing. The neon signs covering the Butt Buffett are so good that you’ll flip back to the page just to make sure that you read them right.

The opening pages read like Shakespeare for degenerates. Aubrey Sitterson must be the first person to ever ask the question, “Would you deny me this llama and its hindquarters most voluptuous!?” It’s lines like these that make you look at the warning on the cover and think, “Okay, yeah. That makes sense now.” Everything that happens at the Butt Buffett is worthy of the warning label.  You might have to put trash bags on your windows while you read. You don’t want to draw any unwanted attention to yourself. The chemistry between the characters is one of the major strengths of the issue. The back and forth between and Bang and Cal is hilariously outrageous and perfectly balanced by the calm, cool, and collected Sam Sugar.

Taylor Esposito’s lettering shines in this issue. His lettering keeps up with the lightning-fast debauchery of the issue. Whether it’s Cal’s “Purrfect,” Sam’s “It’s okay with me,” Bang’s f-bombs, Esposito captures the voices of these larger-than-life characters and is as essential as the writing, art, and coloring. Digital readers may have some trouble reading Godhead’s dialogue, but that is just another reason to go buy an issue at your local comic book shop.

Final Thoughts

The Worst Dudes #4 is a visual feast for the freaks and party animals. The series continues to prove that it is worthy of a warning label. Go get your dirty hands on a copy at your local comic book shop or wherever you get comics!
