Review

Now that the girls are trapped, the only thing left to do is find a way off of the island. As secrets are revealed about who sent them there as well as what potential dangers await them should they attempt to escape, Hema takes matters in her own hands in explosive fashion.

Picking up right where the first issue left off, the girls are still fighting to come to terms with their horrific situation in an issue that boasts action, drama, as well as a touch of humor for good measure. We get a bit more insight into our cast and the circumstances that landed in Hong Kong before they got sent to the island. The girls also start to settle into their roles in the story. Lonni is firmly the leader, Delight is the brains, Bridget is the air-headed optimist, and Hema is willing to get her hands dirty. Yulia and Vanessa are still finding their identities, but there is still time for them to find their footing.

Kindlon’s script remains punchy with plenty of humor sprinkled in to keep things somewhat light, though that doesn’t mean there aren’t some serious moments as well. The characters feel unique and the solutions they come to for their problems feel logical.

EPHK’s deceptively simple art is once again gorgeous to look at with the bold outlines paired with soft colors helping to make our tigresses stand out. The highlight of the issue comes with the brawl our girls get into with the other women on the island. It’s a brutal few pages, but also has the appearance of something out of Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry.

Final Thoughts

TIgress Island #2 keeps up the fun of the first issue while adding a bit more pathos and danger for our leads. It will be entertaining to see how wild things continue to get from here.
