Transformers Galaxies #4
After being stranded by the other Transformers, the Constructicons are left behind on what was to be an Energon mine. Now, they're faced with some very important decisions about what to do and where to go next.
In the 4th and final chapter of “Constructicons Rising” author Tyler Bleszinski wraps up some storylines he’s been building since the first issue, and at the same time, he seems to set up more opportunities for storylines somewhere down the road. One thing he does that I don’t believe has been done before is to show us the dark side of the Transformers. Let me be clear that when I say dark, I really mean dark. Like, it made me squirm in my seat when I read it. Bleszinski creates two levels of villainy, here. There are the normal, Decepticon villainy and a whole new breed of evil. It makes for an interesting dynamic, but even I have to say, it gets a little disturbing a couple of different times during the issue. Eventually, he wraps up everything very neatly, for the moment, but honestly, I’m very excited to wear things go from here. It’ll be interesting to see where the next issue in particular goes, Bleszinski lays out enough slack for an immediate sequel, yet if he wants to this story is over and he can go in a whole different way.
The art of Livio Ramondelli is truly gorgeous this issue. What’s different about him drawing Transformers is the colors he uses. They’re warm and soft, there’s never a solid “RED” or “BLUE”. They’re all blended tones of colors that accomplish what they need to but give the Transformers a unique look that represents this new (to us) era that we haven’t experienced before. A word to any aspiring artists our there, please check this book out and see just how different colors make your work look. Sometimes it can literally make or break your work. But back to this issue, the art is fantastic and it’s very different than the other Transformers books.
A surprisingly satisfying end to this opening storyline, this has been a very different kind of Transformers story and one that every fan of the franchise should read.
