Transformers Galaxies #5: Tell Me What You Want….

Change is good and when it comes to this comic, change is GREAT!!! We get brand-new storytellers this issue, first are authors Kate Leth and Cohen Edenfield. With this new story, we switch from the Constructicons to Deathsaurus and Cliffjumper and their quest to supply Cybertron and the Transformers with Energon. In a great, refreshingly change-of-pace tale, the two go to a planet to pick up a shipment of Energon. It just happens to be a place where the natives of that world worship Bumblebee. If you’re new to Transformers, Cliffjumper looks exactly like Bumblebee, except he’s red. So it’s a very entertaining case of mistaken identity and also a bit of a Prince and the Pauper kind of thing, with Cliffjumper being treated like a god-king, all the while he’s freaked out by the whole thing because he has no clue as to what’s going on and why he’s being treated so special. From there, the story goes down a path that you can pretty much see coming a mile away, but that doesn’t make it any less entertaining and enjoyable. There’s some great action, along with thrills, a good chunk of mystery and all sorts of twists and turns. What happens this issue can literally change the Transformers forever. Fantastic story and it’s such a nice change of pace from the previous issues, which got to be quite heavy.

Artist Alex Milne is no stranger to drawing Transformers, in fact, he’s got quite an involved history with them. I’m guessing it’s because he does such a fantastic job at it and this issue is no different. This was one of the first times that I’ve seen him draw a book that’s more organic than robots on a robot planet. The creatures of the planet the story takes place on, are not robots, and it’s nice to see him stretch his legs by drawing some things that aren’t made up of straight lines. He does a great job of drawing the aliens, their planet and it’s foliage.
