Recap

Eddie Brock's tale of woe continues in this shocking foray into the split mind of a monster. What is real?

Review

Man. This arc is hitting some weird notes, weird, but GOOD. Donny Cates is carving a top spot in the history of a decades old character, creating a new mythology that is shocking at times, with some troubling dips into Eddie’s past, but in this issue we begin to see some seeds of doubt. Has the symbiote been playing games with his memories? Man, I can’t wait to see how this story plays out.

Ryan Stegman and guest penciler/inker (alongside series mainstay JP Mayer) hit some really interesting moments in Eddie’s past, that potentially may be faux memories implanted by the symbiote. Both artists work their craft exceptionally and every page is significant.

I am curious why The Maker, an alternate universe somewhat evil Reed Richards, (having recently read Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimates run I refuse to call him outright evil) has taken such an interest in Eddie. He does seem curious and possibly a little confused, what could confuse Reed Richards? So interesting.

Final Thoughts

I'm impressed that this series is selling as well as it is, usually stuff this well written goes over people's heads and gets dropped. #betterthanwatchmen? You decide.
