Recap

Donny Cates continues to carry this title without using too much of its main character, Dylan has really taken the role of a front line general of sorts, and I am completely ok with that.

Review

Absolute Carnage has really been a side story of events, as the real story has been Dylan Brock. The battle being fought by Spider-Man and Venom dealing with the maddening bloodbath dealt by the hands of Carnage serve as only the side story of what is really at play (or says this reviewer). We’ve seen the Maker become a pseudo babysitter for Dylan and Normie, and let’s be honest, the Maker has a completely different narrative for this storyline…STAY TUNED! The Sleeper and Dylan union only serves as a Formula One car trying to navigate the highways of Arizona and Utah. If you’ve never driven them, they command the ultimate respect when it comes to their twists and turns. I highly recommend going back to Venom #7, the first appearance of Dylan, keep score, and then let me know what your thoughts are. The moments between Dylan and Sleeper that had me the most excited about the issue’s plot. There’s no secret with my excitement of this storyline, that there is a small portion of me that is waiting for Absolute Carnage to end, so we can spend more time with Dylan and Sleeper…or just Dylan!

Final Thoughts

Donny Cates continues to deliver in every aspect of Venom. Not only does he manage to successfully tie-in Absolute Carnage to Venom, but he excels at telling a story within a story that keeps you begging for more. With that being said I need to make sure that Iban Coello’s and Rain Beredo’s work does not go on without recognition, as they are just as much as responsible for delivering a dynamic coloring to excellent words that keep us coming back
