Recap

Venom has bonded with Rex Strickland in order to gain enough power to take on Knull the God of the symbiotes. Combined with an armory built by shield to take on Symbiotes literally integrated into his body (symbiotes are cool sometimes) it seems to work. But can Eddie, his symbiote and Rex make it out alive?

Review

Wow! Obviously there is a very good chance that Venom will come out completely unscathed but holy crap Donny Cates did a good job of making me feel like there’s a chance he might not. The issue ends on a phenomenal cliffhanger and there is no solicit for the next issue at the end as Marvel usually does. Actually pretty impressive in this day and age to maintain and end like this without spoilers leaking. The conflict with Knull is amazing and incredibly violent. I love the use of fire and hyper rsonics which are often brushed off by writers lately. Although I do feel they should have hurt Venom worse than Knull.

Ryan Stegman has outdone himself with this issue, such detail. The the main fight was beautiful and the finale wouldn’t have been nearly as explosive without such amazing art. The series would not be the hit that it is without them.

I’m honestly pretty blown away by this issue; although I’ll be a little disappointed if Venom isn’t at least crippled after that for now. I hate it when heroes suffer a catastrophic injury with no repercussions. For now, Cates has me hooked though, really great.

Final Thoughts

A can't miss the conclusion to Donny Cates first Venom arc can't wait for the aftermath!
