Recap

Venom is in the clutches of an evil Reed Richards from an alternate universe, or at least Eddie Brock is! Can he escape before its too la- wait, he's been there how long? The symbiote is- whaaat!? Ok, you guys gotta read this, it's really open to interpretation and I'd hate to color your perception in any way.

Review

Ok, I’m either confused or impressed, this issue went a really interesting direction that I’m super intrigued by, again I won’t reveal said direction, as I’m a bit confused, or impressed? Can’t decide. Anyway, there is a funny little bit where Venom finds out Flash is dead, which happened months and months ago and I assumed everybody forgot, but it makes sense that he would be more upset than most as Flash was a former Venom host when Eddie was out of commision for a while.

First Reed Richards cameo of note since the FF return, not unlike Wolverine (who has a story in the annual that came out the next week) I feel like cameos from these returning heroes are mandatory in many books, we’ll see.

Regular series artist Ryan Stegman has taken a break for a couple of issues, as noted above this issue is drawn by Iban Coello. Iban’s style is a little more cartoony than Stegman but really pretty excellent. The Evil Reed especially likes really good, as does the rampaging symbiote.

Interesting to note that Marvel credited Stegman on the cover, not Coello. Possibly indicating a last minute change, or obviously, it could be a mistake.

Final Thoughts

Interesting start to the second arc, which I'm not completely sold on, we'll see how we feel once Eddie gets to San Fransisco.
