War of the Realms: Giant Man #2: What is that Thing?!

Shenanigans ensue in this issue that seems to lose it’s own continuity a little bit, it’s only the second issue (of 3!!!) and it’s already losing it’s way. Goliath seems to be less of a jerk (that singing bit was pretty funny) and the team maybe seems to be getting along better? I don’t have much to say about this issue it spends way too long dealing in minutiae and it seems like they only went a mile or two but I’m sure it’s more. Atlas’ ex Thnderbolts teammate Moonstone is on the cover of next issue so maybe that will be something? I honestly think there’s no way they take down Ymir, Odin couldn’t do it, why should they?! Not to mention if they were to succeed that would make this miniseries key in Thor canon (ie death of a major villain) and I don’t see that happening.

The art is pretty good I like the monster they fight midway through the issue, and it was easy enough to tell who was who and follow the action. In fairness (and I don’t blame the art team for this) a lot of stuff is just convenient plot nonsense, 2 separate chase scenes are resolved via avalanche FFS! I will also say that visual continuity gets rough with the size changing, are they giant when they camp for the night? I don’t know. Are they giant when they run from the monster? I think so, but that makes the monster like 200′ long and that’s insane. And where did the frost giants get all these giant building materials?! Did they bring them with?

I knocked the cover down a few points because, although it looks good, the events depicted don’t happen in the issue and i hate that.
