Recap

Journey into Mystery #2 improves on some of the flaws of the first issue, while creating some new ones. Characterization still feels off, and we maybe get a glimpse of the baby's power.

Review

When I say this issue improved on the last one, much of that is in part due to some 90’s pop culture references, which I understood better than some newer references last issue and I guess the Skrull sleeper cell was an ok way to to get there. I still feel like the dialogue and general humor aren’t great and I’m not terribly interested in the general story.

The art had some acceptable points where it didn’t offend terribly but there are some truly awful panels that vastly overshadow anything done right. Some of these panels are front and center in focus. Unacceptable. It does improve some once the fighting starts but it is bad at multiple points.

Final Thoughts

I read this issue on a boat and was sorely tempted to throw it overboard. Do not read this comic for any reason.
