War of the Realms: Superior Spider-Man #7
Recap
Otto runs headfirst into the War of the Realms, having cleared San Francisco of civilians via a dimensional shift (genius!) he turns his attention to the source of the Frost Giants attacking his city. Needing a dimensional gateway he visits the West Coast Avengers (because LA is right down the street from San Fransisco when you live in NY (kidding love ya Christos!)) to ask America Chavez for help. Unable to travel to Jotunheim they settle for the source of the portal, New York City!
Review
I thought this was one of the better War of the Realms tie ins (for those following my Superior Spider-man reviews, I’m also reviewing the ENTIRE War of the Realms event so this is a crossover for me in more ways than one, or two as Gwenpool points out, repeatedly) with a good amount of entertainment found. This series is turning into an edgier team up book and that’s fine with me. I’m not a fan of the West Coast Avengers really and Gwenpool really really grates my nerves but I’m always happy to see Clint and the others exist too I guess.
The art by Lan Medina looks great although it does seem like he’s dipping a lot into really classic spidey poses that seem to lack originality a bit when compared to the much heavier style of Mike Hawthorne. Not to say I don’t like the art because I really do, just an observation.
Final Thoughts
Really fun issue despite Gwenpool being in it, joking kinda.
