Eddie Brock and his knockoff Venom suit fights wave after wave of bad guys, including an amped up Jack o Lantern. Unfortunately for him the more rage and violence he exerts the more the suit controls him, can Eddie survive?
Review
A fun little arc by Cullen Bunn, once you get past the literal “a wizard did it” nature of Venom getting a version of his suit back mere weeks after he spectacularly split with his Other 2 issues ago. This does additionally feel like a more classic Venom arc, which is neat, but goes pretty heavily against what Donny Cates has been doing.
As a War of the Realms tie in this is also fairly unnecessary and toothless, but still pretty fun for what it is.
The art by Iban Coello and Andres Mossa is great, 90s as hell but that seems to be the intent of this entire arc, look at that cover. My LCS guy even made mention of it when I picked up my books Wednesday. He said something about leaning into that 90s skid which actually describes this arc well so points go to Bret.
Final Thoughts
A good arc if you're a fan of classic Venom, but you might want to skip it if you're following the current Venom series for more than surface level fun.
