Weapon H #11: Bewitched by Morgan Le Fay

First, I must complement Philip Tan and Romulo Fajardo Jr. on an AWESOME cover! I absolutely love the structure of the artwork and the darker colors that only enhance the excitement. It increased my curiosity on the direction that this book may take as Weapon H and his squad of misfits completes their mission. Unfortunately, Greg Pak disappoints me in the last issue and Weapon H #11 is still too predictable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a “fun” read, which I feel that is what Pak intended it to be.

The powerful sorceress, Morgan Le Fay, has been released by her prison and unleashing her gifted intellect as she reclaimed the throne as ruler of Weirdworld. Hara must serve her queen and carry out the command to kill all Raxxon invaders, which includes Hara’s new found friends. Still under the Queen’s prodigious spell, Weapon H battles his fellow soldiers with no mercy.

Meanwhile, Black Widow and the annoying, selfish, Blake team up with Dr. Espinoza as she creates a weapon. Pak has spawned a sticky web through the story development that Angel turned out to be a spy in this mission. Captain America talked a good game to his fellow soldier, but this brand of deception caused more harm and disrespect. Nonetheless, the mission must be carried out as Black Widow devises a plan to knock Weapon H out of the queen’s mind control. No matter how strong the spell or level of knowledge of magical lore, Queen Morgan Le Fay is no match compared to the fierce love of Clay’s wife, Sonia. Clay broke free from the spell that once blinded his ways, Weapon H, now takes control and deals with the situation at hand.

Pak created a fun and creative turn around for the plot of this story. Though really predictable with characters, such as; Sonia and Dario Agger, Pak manages to explain the cause and effect in an entertaining way. Agger is the typical greedy scum of the Earth and his manipulations are quite effortless. However, as he faces his own possible demise, this tycoon has a difficult decision to make.

Weapon H has intrigued me from the very beginning. Each issue has a lot of heart and soul, but the storyline is beginning to be overwhelmingly predictable. Weapon H / Clay remains grounded with his family that carries the story, but the overall plot may be losing some fans. The cover implies a darker and horrifically psychodynamic flare and that could increase the enticement away from the same old, same old. However, as the Weirdworld storyline nears its conclusion, Weapon H slowly seems to become a forgettable title. I hope that Pak can put a punch in the finale to get his fans out of the state of blah, blah, blah.

Guiu Vilanova, Morry Hollowell, and Chris Sotomayor are quite the artistic team. The action scenes are clear and powerful as forces clashed. The art and coloring are impressive that engages the quality of each character development. He consistency of artistic talent shines in each issue and I look forward to more in Weapon H #12.
