Recap

Why?!!! Was the first word that came to mind the first time I heard about this hybrid test-tube baby of two great Marvel characters. Then as I read Weapon H #1, I was hooked and had to go back and read all the issues to the Weapons of Mutant Destruction! Yes, there were some “familiar” plots that connected well and drew the reader deeper into the storyline.

An ex-military soldier who murdered his team to protect the lives they were ordered to eliminate, Clay was turned over to a government program, Weapon X, where he was spliced with DNA of Hulk and Wolverine. He is now on the run and as Weapon H, he is determined to protect his family. Weapon H, issue #2 and #3 is FUN and HOT as HELL!

Weapon H #4 strongly attract the attention with the great story of emotion, tragedy and articulating it with the action. Roxxon Industries hot on his heels, this puts everyone close to Weapon H in a dangerous situation. It happened, the CEO, Dario Agger dominated Weapon H with him on his knees and chained. What did Agger do next? He offered Weapon H the job proposal of his life!

Pak’s writing in Weapon H #5 continues to be clear, precise, and to the point. He provides more details of Weapon H’s genetic make-up and truly made this character unbeatable with untapped power. At the end of each Weapon H issue, my inner voice screams; “That was freakin’ AWESOME!” and then, I reread it, lol.

Review

Pack and his creative team are explosively cohesive and continue the excitement in issue #6 as Weapon H handles the inter-dimensional monsters. The Roxxon Corporation has inadvertently opened a portal that leads to a place they refer to as Weirdworld. The portal is damaged and about to release bloodthirsty monsters that will feed upon the humans of Earth. Agger and the good Dr. Baines has the means to shut it the portal but has to much financial investment to take a chance of losing the connection to this realm. Weapon H and his team decide to walk away from the negligence that Agger and Baines have unleashed upon humanity. Unfortunately, the monsters have crossed over and Weapon H has no choice but to be that defender and hero.

The monsters are shape-shifters and morphs to blend in the crowd of children playing. How can Weapon H decipher the monstrous creatures from the humans? Well, he does have Wolverine’s great sense of smell and as he draws his claws… the great Captain America arrives! Thinking with his fists, Cap attacks Weapon H as the creatures begin to play with some food, lol. Captain America and Weapon H join forces and defeat the other-dimensional monsters. Shortly afterward, Sonia, the wife of Weapon H; aka Clay, scolds her husband for picking a fight with a superior officer. Then she quickly turns to Captain America and points out as the country’s greatest soldier, he should know to assess the situation before plowing into a situation blindly. Now, however, it’s soldier alongside soldier trusting one to have the other’s back when needed.

Weapon H #6 is a fairly quick and simple read, but the energy that Greg Pak storytelling works in this Hulkverine saga. Ario Anindito and his artistic team articulate well with Pak that showcases each other’s talents.
