Recap

Review

Continuing from last issue, Captain America inspires Weapon H as they battle the shape-shifting, inter-dimensional Skrullduggers from Weirdworld. When we think about inspiration, what inspires us most are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. We appreciate when someone has the ability and willingness to be selfless, creative, innovative, or just dares to be different. Captain America is true inspiration to many, viewed as an ordinary man who decided that the world needed their help – true leaders wo believed that they could change the world and who, despite nearly impossible odds and tremendous opposition, weren’t afraid to “try”. Greg Pak takes us on a journey that explains why Clay, before Weapon H, became an American Soldier.

A small but quite powerful story of child who dealt with forms of bullying as it continued throughout his young adult hood. When you think of bullies, you often think of children terrorizing other children. However, it is important to note that even parents can be bullies. Some parenting “styles” can lend themselves to bulling attributes. Certain actions of adults or as parents that fail to teach their kids about bullying, fail to intervene when necessary, or fail to recognize a child in pain – leave children being bullied with few options. Some children will muddle through and grow up with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, and social phobia and so on. Some children turn on themselves through self-injuries, substance abuse, drop out of school, suicide. Others become bullies as they enter adulthood. Few, like Clay in Weapon H, are lucky enough to find an adult figure that provides the type of inspiration to overcome the childhood nightmares.

The great thing about inspiration of this kind is that “ordinary” part. Certainly, Captain America has that charismatic ability to lead others to better things, but, he also demands authenticity in others.

Pak does an awesome job providing his readers yet another aspect of who Weapon H represents and articulating to the current event. His storytelling skills shine throughout Weapon H #7 during the various action pack fighting scenes and how tough decisions are formulated by Clay and Captain America.

Ario Anindito and Morry Hollowell continue to draw emphasis on the storytelling through their artwork. The colors and fighting structure detailed the emotions as well as the oozing splatter of alien blood. You just have to see for yourself!
