Recap

The past shapes the present, the present shapes the future. Bucky has done a lot of bad, but he is on a mission to keep other people from ending up like the Winter Solider.

A stormy night in Chicago, Illinois, two cops sit in the car as another officer leaves to the building. Thunder crackling throughout the city. The officer's name is Arther and he just met the Winter Solider. Soon after they are interrupted by dirty cops. They also meet the Winter Soldier. They meet a much different end than Officer Arther.

Shelbyville, Indiana, a place known for its humidity as Tony Stark complains about as he works on Bucky's robotic arm. The two gentlemen are joined by none other than Sharon Carter. Concern about Terry's whereabouts begins to surface. Bucky has not been able to get ahold of him. What's a trained operative to do? Roadtrip.

It doesn't take long for Bucky to find Terry in the "somewhere" in Wisconsin. Terry is having a hard time starting over. It becomes clear that Bucky has been saving people and putting them in a type of witness protection program. Terry is having a hard time adjusting to his new life. As the two share drink, shots fill the small bar taking out Terry. The new assassin also took shots at Bucky. As the smoke clears, we lay witness that the new assassin looks a lot like young Bucky.

Review

What a way to start off a new series. I really want to commend the writer Kyle for doing his research. I tend to google cities, places that comic books are taking place in. The first thing that Wikipedia said about Shelbyville, Indiana was about the humidity. The first thing that Tony Stark complains about.

I really appreciated that there was not a long history/origin story about Bucky, every number one seems to want to hash out the past again. Kyle didn’t hey touched on it, however, it also talks about his current struggles and why Bucky meditates. The backstory brought a lot of reasoning to the present time.

Final Thoughts

Writing and Storyline, for me it's an easy 10. I am not familiar with Kyle as much but if he keeps writing like this, I am going to be a huge fan.

Art is a solid 10, if I could give it 11 I would. I love that Rod took risks. Some panels were super colorful, others dark, other times, let's have abstract panels. This book easily hands down one of my top books of 2018. I am really excited about the future of this series.
