Witchblade #7: Resurrection and Assassination Attempts

The issue starts off with a flashback showing a woman named Maggie being killed by a crime boss. Maggie has been mentioned in the series before. She has some kind of connection to Alex that hasn’t been fully revealed as of yet. After the flashback, it is revealed it has been three months since the end of last issue. Alex is using the Witchblade to protect the city from what she calls scavengers. One of them gets away and the blade wants her to chase it. Alex says that she has had enough for the night and wants to go home and heal up. She calls Maj on her way. She has him watching Johnny who returned from the dead last issue.

When she hangs up from her phone call she realizes that somebody is about to attack her. A woman takes a shot at her and follows her down into the subway. Alex decides not to armor up because there are too many cameras around. The woman seems to know about the Witchblade. She manages to barely hit Alex’s arm with a special bullet before Alex manages to lose her.

Alex goes to Maj to fix up her arm and look at the bullet. It is a silver bullet, of all things. They talk about Johnny. Maj had lost him after he saw Johnny avoid some feds. Alex goes home to gets some rest. She sees that her mailbox has been tampered with so she goes out the fire escape. There, she runs into her attacker again. The two battle and this woman seems magical or demonic in nature. Johnny shows up to help Alex and gets stabbed in the process. It doesn’t even slow him down. He beats the attacker unconscious. During the fight, he drops a device. After the fight is over he seems wiped. Alex hands him the device he dropped and he injects himself with it. Then he seems better. Alex tells Johnny she still doesn’t trust him. After that, he tells her that the woman works for somebody who wants the Witchblade.
