Witchblade # 9
Victoria meets Artemis at the bloodbath she has created. She lets her live to warn Alex. Maj, Alex, and Johnny are confronted by the assassin woman, Maggie. Maj manages to knock her out. He calls Debbie to help deal with her when she wakes up. Debbie offers her witness protection for turning on NGEN. She refuses. Debbie’s car blows up with her driver inside. Alex and Johnny go investigate and attacked by demons. They get separated. Alex easily dispatches her foes. Johnny on the other hand gets caught by NGEN. Alex meets Artemis for the first time with the requisite posturing occurring. Johnny helps set up Alex and Maggie. Alex turns herself over to NGEN because she thinks it is the only to get a way into the organization. Johnny is confronted by Ash and they plot to help Alex escape.
There is a lot going and not much in the way of actual details being given. It’s hard to keep up with the characters in this book. They aren’t developed very much and it’s confusing to follow what is going on in the book since it jumps around so much. The transitions to new scenes leave little to be desired. I can’t really say that after nine issues that I actually care about any of the characters. The art is interesting, but doesn’t really blow me away.
I really, really miss the old Witchblade. This one isn’t doing it for me.
