Review
Benjamin Percy’s Wolverine run has been stacked with some incredible talent. This current creative team is no different. Federico Vicentini looks like he’s having a blast drawing this book. The first few pages alone set the scene fairly quickly but provide some incredible detail. Wolverine and Solem are fighting with a snowstorm the entire issue, which is no easy task to capture visually, but Vincintini knocks it out of the park. The snow and wind might be blinding for the characters in the issue, but Frank D’Armata does some excellent work with blues and purples to capture the wintry conditions without blinding the reader. I’m also a big fan of Cory Petit’s lettering. With a lot of movement and busy panels due to the snowstorm, Petit does a skillful job with speech balloon placements, especially with Wolverine’s narration boxes. His lettering compliments Percy’s writing style greatly.
Wolverine #25 has a bonus story to celebrate the 25th issue. “Bar Brawl” is Wolverine’s love letter to bars, which may be his most consistent love in life. Written by Percy, we see Wolverine getting into trouble at various bars in his lifetime. What’s fun is that different artists cover glimpses into the past. The artists consist of: Greg Land & Jay Leisten; Juan Ferreyra; Kyle Charles; Andrea Di Vito; Klaus Janson; Emma Kubert & Guillermo Ortego. Frank Martin and Juan Ferreyra handle colors with Cory Petit lettering the whole story.
Final Thoughts
WOLVERINE #25 finds Wolverine racing through snowstorms to face Progenitor. Is he prepared for the answer he gets? He’s ready to fight, either way, bubs!
