The stage is set for the extra-sized anniversary issue in two weeks.
Review
The mystery of Themyscira’s disappearance has taken a left turn into dimension Chi and with an alternate version of the amazons. Artistically, the issue continues its top-notch performance. The story is continuing at a good pace, but is starting to stall in some places, once again relying primarily on an extended fight scene to fill most of the issue.
Maggie is becoming more and more of an incidental character, her growth seeming to stall and her connection to the sword basically brushed aside. The story is still interesting but it feels like it has lost some of the momentum the book has been gaining for the past few issues. It could that Wilson is saving her energy up for the milestone issue next time, we will see in two weeks where everything is leading.
Final Thoughts
This issue had a lot of action, but not a lot of substance. Overall a good issue, but I'm hoping that next issue will give more substance to Themyscira's story.
