Review
Kyle Starks’ Wrestle Heist continues its trampling of comic shelves everywhere with high-octane energy of wrestling…err sports entertainment with emotional stakes of a stellar-casted drama. Kyle Starks delivers the third installment with the ferocity of Macho Man Randy Savage with the timekeeper’s bell! Starks continues to masterfully spin yarn worthy of any color commentary.
As the tension continues to build after Gravedigger’s death match, Starks gives us a peek behind the curtain at what goes on outside of the ring and inside wrestlers’ lives. Dealing with family issues and drug usage. Sterling’s story is a tragic one, yet common in the industry. And not to mention dealing with the likes of Buddy Hansen doesn’t help. So, as any sane and rational person would do, Sterling finalized his faction and got to work.
Starks, along with Vlad Popov and Dylan Todd, has created a world that not only feels lived in but is as authentic to the industry as any. ensuring every “slap,” “drop,” and “squeeze” resonates with the reader. You can hear the crowd, you can smell the arena. Fabulous characters brought to life that would make Gorilla Monsoon proud. Issue #3 delivers the same addictive storytelling as it continues building momentum. Similar to that feeling right before Wrestlemania starts.
Wrestle Heist #3 is more than just another wrestling comic. We are seeing a tale of human legacy unfold in panels.
