Review

LaTour delivers in this issue, but there’s a Hitch. All joking aside, I really wanted to love this issue, but I only liked it. There was a lot of missed opportunity in this issue, in my opinion. The dialogue was a little clunky at times, but that’s not what pulled me out of the book It was the fact that LaTour spent the whole issue trying to prove that no matter where, when or whatever the circumstances Lex Luthor is always going to be Lex Luthor, yet he shows us so many examples where that isn’t the case. It’s not all average at all. The last page is pretty great and promises to pay off…someday.

On the art side of things, it’s Brian Hitch!! That guy could draw the phone book and I’d buy it. It’s usual Hitch greatness, with big cinematic pages and panels, and tons of characters for him to draw. He also gives us the usual mega detailed backgrounds, and you realize just how much of a master storyteller that he is. This is a book your going to want to look at more than once because I guarantee there are things that you’ll miss the first time through,

Final Thoughts

Lex Luthor is the ultimate super-villain, and this book should've reflected that instead, we get example after example of Luthors that do nothing but fail epically. Yes, the ending is pretty great, but it can't save the rest of the issue from being mediocre.
