Zatanna #1
Recap
Zatanna Zatara, the Mistress of Magic, is back on tour! She's got her stage crew back together and is looking forward to a new, less chaotic chapter of life. However, her plans are disrupted before they even begin when her stage crew is abducted by a ghostly new adversary, The Lady White. Now, Zatanna is plunged into machinations of tricks, swords, and curses that threaten to tear her apart from the inside out!
Review
It’s here! It’s finally here!!!! After years of playing a supporting character in several Justice League lineups (except for that second volume of JLD by Tynion IV and Ram V) Zatanna, mistress of the backwards magic is back in her own solo ongoing book! Written and drawn by one of DC’s hottest artists, Jamal Campbell, and this first issue looks absolutely stunning, so let’s get on with this review!!!
Final Thoughts
Jamal Campbell shows up and shows out with this first issue of the brand new Zatanna series, giving us a magical mystery tour with a brand new mystical villain, the Lady White, who has a wonderfully simple, yet elevated design, making me want to see more of her. The issue is a knockout, and I’m very impressed with what Campbell has in store for us next.
