I started my journey into the world of Dungeons And Dragons (D&D) last year and needless to say, it was a great year to get started. That was the year when the hit movie Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and the award-winning D&D video game Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, and the most popular gaming convention for roleplaying games, GenCon, also had a record-breaking attendance.
One of the many exciting things about the game of Dungeons and Dragons is creating the character you will play in your campaign. Currently, I’m working on my third character: Gromm, a half-orc druid in his 50s who was a former soldier that currently resides in Icewind Dale (I’m still working out the details here). And whenever I start creating a backstory for my character, I look into some of the details of the game regarding race, class, location, and anything else that exists in that world, usually from the world of Forgotten Realms.
As I was doing my research, I came across an interesting fact about druids – they don’t wear metal armor or shields. However, they can wield metal weapons, like sickles and scimitars. I found this really fascinating and, well, it has sent me down a rabbit hole in thinking about how to explain this statement of fact for my character and other druids in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
