Top 10 Deadliest Threats to the DC Universe

Fans love to compare their favorite heroes or, in this case, villains against each other in the ultimate battle where the winner takes all. Endless posts and threads throughout social media and forums are littered with them, each person with their own opinion on comparing and contrasting their various feats and accomplishments.

Comic Watch asked our Age of DC Comics group which villains pose the greatest of threats to the DC Universe. Here are the results of our fan-driven poll!

10. Krona

A former Guardian who was converted to pure energy after disobeying Oan Law, Krona has telepathic and telekinetic abilities and is immortal. Hampered only by an insatiable thirst for knowledge (this being the root of his exile from Oa) and blind arrogance, Krona is caretaker of the 7 Emotional entities and is able to wield the entire emotional spectrum.

9. Brother Eye

Created by Batman, Brother Eye possesses all the strategic knowledge of his creator with none of the restraint, and with the help of his OMACs, has managed to take down the worlds most powerful heroes including Superman and Captain Marvel, in Future’s End he even managed to turn the entire Earth into nightmarish mind controlled cyborgs!

8. Barbatos

A God of the Dark Multiverse, Barbatos assembled a nightmare array of evil Batmen to roll the dice on the DC Universe’s only constant, Batman always wins!

7. Nekron

The Lord of the Unliving, Nekron rules over the dead in the realm that exists before final judgment. Nekron is effectively immortal due to not being alive and is able to reanimate corpses to do his bidding. During Blackest Night he used the Black Lantern Corps to attempt to devour all other colors of the emotional spectrum.

6. The Crime Syndicate

The Crime Syndicate of Earth 3 are evil mirrors of Earth 0’s Justice League including Ultraman, Owlman, Superwoman, Deathstorm, Johnny Quick, and many others. Being an even match, or occasionally more than even, for the Justice League member for member, the Crime Syndicate managed to take over Earth o and trap the Justice League in redacted for spoiler

5. Doctor Manhattan


Created in an atomic accident, Doctor Manhattan is able to manipulate matter to unseen extents, including teleportation, disintegration, knowledge of future events through an ability to see all moments on a timeline at once and total control over the molecules of his body. Manhattan has recently taken an interest in the DC 0 timeline and has affected some big changes such as plucking Jor-el from Krypton nanoseconds before its destruction and pulling Tim Drake out if a defunct universe for some reason.

4. Brainiac


A cyborg from Colu, Brainiac seeks knowledge above all else and has repeatedly been at odds with Superman over the years in his attempts to miniaturize cities to bottle for his archives. Notably Brainiac once irreversibly shrank the Kryptonian city of Kandor, which sat in Superman’s Fortress of Solitude until it was recently destroyed. Brainiac can rebuild himself or even transport himself into a new body in event of catastrophic injury, and possesses enough strength and technology to vex the Man of Steel himself!

3. Superboy Prime


The Lone Survivor of Earth Prime following Crisis on Infinite Earths, Superboy Prime was driven insane watching Post Crisis DC events unfold from behind the scenes with Alexander Luthor from Earth 3 and Superman and Lois Lane from Earth 3. Superboy Prime possesses all the powers of Superman and is also violently unstable, often unintentionally killing people while throwing tantrums, Superboy Prime once managed to alter the universe itself by pounding on the very walls of reality, causing them to crack.

2. Anti-Monitor

Anti-Monitor possesses pretty much-unlimited amounts of cosmic power and strength, once causing enough damage to decrease the lifespan of the universe by a billion years. Anti-monitor made overt attempts to destroy the multiverse that was only stopped by a concerted effort from heroes from across the multiverse, resulting in the death of the multiverse and the combination of all universes to form the unified universe (New Earth) seen in post-crisis continuity.

1. Darkseid

The despotic ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid is powerful enough to trade blows with some of the mightiest beings in the universe and manipulate all but the strongest minds through sheer force of will. Darkseid is.
