Captain Marvel: Girl Power is Here to Stay

Now, this is the prequel and the origin story that would soon tie together for Endgame. The movie was filled with a rush of adrenaline and a soft spot for humor. Brie Larson is powerful in her role the moment she has stepped out on the big screen. The power that she displayed as she smashed away the image of what women/girls should be was immense. Instead, she brings forth what it means to be a superhero in the age for Marvel’s men club. And what she brings forth is not merely a superhero, but a warrior, and a scientist to never be cast aside and to always stand up for what we believe in. Captain Marvel spoke of never being labelled as what we are, but what we dream to be and to never take no for an answer. Believe in those dreams and soar into the sky that was meant for you.

Samuel L Jackson and his love for cats in the movie was a widely accepted and a comedic relief during the film that gave us more insight into the Agent Fury we know and love. While they traveled and befriended one another, we couldn’t help but enjoy their banter that they crossed each others’ paths. The friendly chemistry that the cast had together is one to look forward to as they became a whole as the movie progressed. While the beginning seems to slow the pace of the movie quickly picked up in the middle and we were able to see how Brie Larson fleshed out Captain Marvel, revealing the woman that we had all known and loved. While the homage to her 2012 costume was exciting to see. the shift to her later suit and the way her helmet sported her iconic Mohawk will soon go down in history.

Jude Law’s portrayal of Yon-Rogg was heartbreaking to see, as as a long-time Jude Law fan, even more so when the tables turn in the movie. We don’t know who to believe and what we see in front of us is accepted as the truth being sought out. The fights, the wars– there is more than the eye can see as the mind can be altered. The truth will come out as the movie shows that we can only trust what we believe and what we know. While the film has given us the insight of who Captain Marvel is, and how everything will tie together as Avengers: Endgame starts to slowly inch closer, we can slowly feel it inch closer as the secret ending shows (don’t walk out just yet) everything will soon come together.
