Marvel has released more information about the upcoming Carnage ongoing series, set to spin out of Death of the Venomverse limited series. Following up on the recent Reign of Carnage, Death of the Venomverse will see Carnage hunting down and culling through multiversal symbiotes to claim the King in Black’s throne. Carnage #1’s creative team, writer Torunn Grønbekk and artist Pere Pérez, will pick up on the status quo as the Carnage symbiote searches for the only worthy host: Cletus Kasady.
Grønbekk discussed the new status quo and upcoming series in the press release, stating:
“What are powers without purpose? Having hunted down and triumphed over his greatest weaknesses, Carnage’s powers are unrivaled. However, a piece is still missing – the symbiote needs a host with the ambition to match its own. And for Carnage, there was only ever one. (And you know who!) I knew writing Carnage would be an opportunity to explore some pretty dark themes, but I am surprised and delighted to find that the darkness is coming from some unexpected places. It is my kind of horror – overwhelmingly gruesome but still rooted firmly in humanity. Expect big symbiote action, mysteries, myth, and murder. This is gospel, according to Cletus Kasady, and he is the end of the world as we know it.”
Along with these details, the press release also provided a first look at Rose Besch’s variant cover for the #1, joining the main cover from Paulo Siquiera. Both covers can be seen below:
